Non-contact Detection of Heart and Respiration Rate:

In this project, non-contact detection of human heart and respiration rate has been done through a CW system at 10 GHz based on the principle of detection of change in phase caused by chest wall movement. Quadrature demodulator architecture has been used in the microwave frontend, . The system required microstrip band pass filter, IQ mixer and power splitter which were designed and fabricated as part of this project. In signal processing of received signal, arctangent demodulation has been used to obtain phase change. The system detected heartbeat and respiration rates upto 0.5 m.
